Black Widow Spouse 8

The good news about Orange's death was that it got a lot of publicity. The bad news, Laurel was needing a place to hide out.

Giving herself a new look, she headed over to Evergreen Harbor. She shuddered at the trash that lined the streets. She didn't want to live in this, but maybe she could afford a house on the nicer side of town after getting married.

There were only two families left living in this desolate town, so Laurel didn't have to worry about being recognized here.

It didn't take Laurel to woo one of the two remaining men, Jeb Harris. With a ring on his finger, and the promise of a better house, they were headed to the alter.

And what a house it was! Laurel wasn't going to have much of a problem adjusting to this house. It was almost as nice as her place in Del Sol Valley, almost.

Jeb was proud of finally being able to afford a house on the nice side of town, as his family had lived in one of the more rundown areas his whole life, so he wanted the wedding to take place there. That way he got to show off his new house and new bride to everyone.

Unfortunately, everyone just happened to be Bernard, as the rest of the kids were too young or in school, and Jeb's son wanted nothing to do with him or this place. Still, it was better than nothing.

While the investigation into Orange's death went on, Laurel was glad she had managed to maintain such a good reputation. They wouldn't suspect her of a thing.

When Laurel found out she was expecting, well Jeb was less than thrilled. He was almost an elder, and he really didn't want another kid. Finally, someone who felt the same way Laurel did on the inside.

Laurel of course, had to still pretend to be thrilled by the news and play the part of the sweet homemaker that was her current disguise.

As she took care of fussy Georgia, she strongly considered hiring a nanny. They had the money, but she would have to endure for the sake of her image.

Though Blaze was thrilled to be brought bake to life, he was less than thrilled to have to basically start over in school. Laurel reassured him that she didn't really care what kind of grades he got. He had a bigger mission.

At night, Blaze began to put his mission into action. He visited Forgotten Hallow and met up with the Vatore siblings.

They hated Vlad as much as his mother. The only difference was, they wanted to take him down because of all of the humans he killed, while Laurel wanted to become more powerful than him just to laugh in his face.

Blaze convinced them that he and his mother wanted the same thing, and in a way they did.

After a few visits, Blaze was able to convince Caleb to turn him. Lilith looked on excitedly. Normally she did the turning because Caleb hated it if it wasn't necessary.

They both looked on happily as their future protégé took the final steps in becoming a vampire.

When Blaze returned home the night after his turning, Laurel couldn't have been more proud of her son. Finally, her mission was coming to an end.

Just because Constance moved out, that didn't stop her from checking in on her siblings. Laurel let her in because she didn't view Constance as a threat anymore. With having a soon to vampire child, and a witch on her side, there was nothing Constance could really do to stop her.

The younger children were happy to see her. Serenity wished that Constance was around to take care of her and her siblings. She told Constance all about how Laurel, wasn't even pretending to care anymore. Constance's heart broke. She only hoped that all her younger siblings would make it long enough to escape Laurel and planned to stop by the house more often.

Constance also kept a close eye on Yvette. Other than bringing Blaze back to life, it didn't seem like Laurel had much of a plan for her. Yvette promised to do her best to look after the younger ones and to see if Laurel would let her take them with her when she aged up shortly.

She also tried to see if Blaze would help her take care of the younger ones and was surprised when he just laughed at her.

Blaze told her that he and Yvette were special. They didn't need to waste their time looking after the others. They were nothing.

Yvette was starting to wonder if it was a mistake to bring Blaze back to life due to his callous nature.

Laurel, meanwhile, was planning Jeb's demise. She had heard about death by rodent fever and though it would be funny for Jeb to spend all of eternity floating around as a giant mouse.

She bought the rat as a guise for giving the younger children a pet to take care of to teach responsibility.

Jeb hated the rat. What was the point of buying a nice house if this filthy creature was going to ruin the aesthetic.

After another near death experience, which Blaze hid from his mother in case she viewed it as a sign of weakness, Blaze finally completed his transformation.

He decided to study up and learn all he could about being a more powerful vampire when the inevitable fight with Vlad occurred.

Of course not everything could be learned from books, so he visited the Vatore siblings frequently for training as well.

Each time he left, he took some time to reflect on the statue of the supposedly great Vlad Straud. One day, that statue would be toppled and replaced by one of his mother.

Blaze also made no attempts to be a "good" vampire. He frequently compelled his step-father Jeb to get his blood fix.

Jeb was old, and he was also a professor that worked long nights. Unless anyone looked closely at the bitemarks on his neck, they would be none the wiser as to why he was always so drained of energy.

Soon it was time for Laurel to go into labor again. She unceremoniously gave birth to Derek and shoved his crib in the hallway outside her room. Someone else would take care of him.

Derek wasn't the only one with a birthday. Yvette, Serenity, Antoinette, and Georgia all grew up on the same day.

The younger girls failed to accrue any traits that impressed their mother, which didn't come as a shock to Laurel. She had pretty much given up hope on them anyway.

Blaze also made it a point to mock them. How did it feel to be such a let down, that their own mother barely remembered any of their names. They were the unimportant children.

Yvette was surprised when her mother pulled her aside and asked her to stick around longer. She had assumed she would be kicked out once she became a young adult.

Laurel just smiled at her and said she was too important to let go just yet. Her mother's message felt ominous, but Yvette thought it was best not to question it. It as never any good to ask Laurel too many questions.

As much as Laurel had wanted to see Jeb's hilarious ghostly form if he died of rodent fever, she was growing tired of him and took matters into her own hands. She just hoped she didn't get pregnant from their little romp between the sheets.

Jeb let out an exhausted groan. Between Blaze draining him of blood and woohoo with Laurel, it was all just too much for him.

Unable to catch his breath, he placed his hands on his knees to try and steady himself. Ultimately it wasn't enough, and he collapsed on the ground.

His pulse felt weaker and weaker, and when he saw the Grim Reaper approaching him, he knew his time was up.

As Jeb was dying upstairs, Derek was growing up. Blaze tossed the fussy toddler a cup of juice. He really hoped Laurel didn't plan on taking Derek or the others with them when they moved in with the Vatores.

After Jeb's soul was collected, Laurel went back to her own roots. Sure, she was a little grey, and a little older, but she had missed her darker, more vampiric look.

Blaze brought her to the Vatore's finally it was time for her to seduce Caleb. Putting her in a prime spot to take down Vlad, just across the way.

Lilith and Caleb were both pleased to meet her. Laurel told them of how her family had been cast aside for being too weak, and how she wanted to put Vlad in his place once and for all. After all, she was considered just a human now, and he was making the world more dangerous.

It took her mere ours to seduce Caleb and convince both siblings she was on their side.

Lilith along with "all" of Laurel's children, both important and unimportant, gathered for the wedding. They had worked out a deal that Lilith would stay with her children, aside from Blaze and Yvette, while they came up with a game plan to take Vlad down.

Laurel actually felt happy this wedding day. She was almost ready to show Vlad her worth, and she had the second most powerful vampire family on her side. She had also learned earlier that day that Malcolm had passed away of old age, which meant her ungrateful children suffered a huge moral blow. Nothing could make this day  more perfect.

Shortly after the wedding, Laurel announced she was pregnant. Caleb was confused about why she was happy about this, when she had decided it was too unsafe or her younger children to stay in Forgotten Hallow.

Laurel reassured him this child would most likely be safe because they would be a vampire. Also being pregnant, gave them more time to put a foolproof plan into place.

Laurel was actually excited by the fact that she could have another vampire child in the mix. She would get to Vlad, just not the way the Vatores were expecting. Vlad, she had a different plan for entirely. Sticking it to him, to her, was making him see her as an equal, and with the Vatores hopefully soon to be out of the equation, she didn't see how Vlad would have any trouble finding her worthy.
