Black Widow Spouse 9

Blaze continued to do what he wanted, when he wanted. He wanted some blood, he'd compel a passerby. He wanted to terrorize the community or his siblings. Well he'd do that.

Laurel pretty much let him do as he pleased, as long as there wasn't too much blowback on her reputation.

Caleb however, wasn't very happy about the way his step-son was behaving. He explained to Blaze that he and his sister had lived off of plasma packs, and he expected Blaze to do the same. After all, it was inhumane to drain humans of blood. They weren't anything like Vlad here!

Laurel just smiled and nodded and chastised Blaze. She told him to stick to plasma packs from now on because they didn't want to become like Vlad, when they were clearly trying to stop him from harming more humans.

After Caleb left the room, however, Laurel encouraged Blaze to keep drinking from humans and doing what he wanted, just to be careful that Caleb didn't catch wind of it.

Blaze gave his mother an understanding nod. While living under Caleb's roof, he had to pretend to be as horrified of Vlad as the Vatores were. His mother was just playing the part. He was surprised his mother was such a good actress. That or the men she married were incredibly dumb.

Caleb wasn't a fan of Blaze's attitude, and he wasn't making any headway on getting to know his stepson. Since Laurel did nothing but sing his praises, he decided to talk to Yvette.

Yvette was a little nervous about how much she should let on. She didn't want to badmouth Blaze and get on her mother's bad side, but she felt like Caleb should also know what he was getting into.

In the end though, she didn't say much other than the fact that Blaze had always been their mother's favorite. She did let it slip that her mother had her become a spellcaster to bring Blaze back to life.

It wasn't long before Blaze himself joined the conversation. He wanted to make sure both Caleb and Yvette weren't saying anything they shouldn't. If they did, he'd report it back to his mother.

Caleb decided to test the waters and mention Blaze's death to Laurel, who looked at him stunned.

She then fabricated a story where Blaze was murdered by Vlad because of his vampiric appearance and trace amount of vampire blood. Vlad didn't want her to have anything, even a dear child. She went on about how grateful she was that Yvette was able to bring him back to life.

Caleb seemed both angry on Laurel's behalf but also confused. Why wouldn't she have told him about what Vlad did before? Though if all this was true, it made since why Laurel wanted her defenseless human children to be protected by Lilith.

Blaze found out through his mother that Caleb had learned of his death, and of course, Yvette had to be the one that told him. He warned her against sharing information like that. Everything was supposed to stay in the family. Did she want to ruin everything their mother had worked for?

Besides, she was lucky she was even being kept around. He let her know he could end her life plain and simple if he really wanted to.

Yvette sighed as he left the room. She didn't consider herself lucky to be living here. She wished her mother had just let her leave when she became a young adult. She didn't like the glimmer in Blaze's eye as he threatened her life. She had no doubt that he would actually kill her.

Blaze, however, had a different idea of letting Yvette know that those weren't just idle words, and he also planned on getting rid of anyone who would hurt his mother. It was time he paid his ungrateful siblings a visit.

Due to the powers he had amassed, Blaze was able to let himself into their apartment much to Nicolas's chagrin.

Nicolas couldn't do much to stop Blaze. He quickly drank from each of his siblings. Not enough to kill them but enough to leave them unconscious.

One by one, he lead each of his siblings into a dark room, set off some fireworks, and left them to succumb to the flames.

This was the best birthday present he could've hoped for!

As the reaper came in to collect Nicolas, the last to die, Blaze came in pretending to look distraught. He had stayed in the room a bit too to become covered in ashes too. That way would look like he magically survived while all of his siblings did not.

Even though he did not have a face, Blaze could almost feel the piercing look Grim gave him. It was as if he knew what Blaze had done and almost as if he disapproved of Blaze's very existence. Blaze straightened up and tried to act tough. He had taken down his siblings and was about to help take down a powerful vampire. What was the reaper to him?

Blaze came home to give his mother the good news. Finally, after years of worrying about what Nicolas and his crew were up to, they were no more.

Laurel couldn't have been prouder of her son.

Yvette, however, was a different story. Blaze came in to gloat about what he had done. To really drive home the fact that he meant he could kill her anytime he wanted to.

Yvette was filled with so many conflicting emotions: horror, shock, sadness, and rage. She wasn't going to let Blaze get away with what he'd done. As soon as he left her alone, she fled to her remaining siblings. She was sure how safe they were in Lilith's care, and with Blaze behaving so erratically, she needed to keep them safe.

When Yvette arrived at the house, Serenity pulled her into a hug ready to comfort her about their lost siblings. She was alarmed when Yvette frantically pulled away.

As quickly as she could, she tried to convey what a danger Blaze was to her sister. She told her that Blaze was the one that killed the others, and that Serenity and others needed to leave now before he came after them next. She also tried to emphasize that Bernard was not a safe option either, and that under no circumstances should the rest of the family go to live with him in Sulani

As quickly as she had arrived, Yvette left. She didn't want to be away to long and arouse her mother's or Blaze's suspicions. She just hoped Serenity took her warning and didn't think she was just being paranoid.

Thankfully, however, Serenity took her word. She wasn't sure if she should believe everything Yvette told her or not, but she had never felt safe around Blaze, and there was no love lost between the younger kids and their mother. As for Bernard, Serenity and her twin were too young when their father passed, but if he did in fact have a hand in their father's death, well she just didn't want to risk it.

She gathered up Georgia and Derek and informed Antoinette what was going on. The siblings quickly hopped on a bus to Strangerville. Once there, they found a long abandoned bunker that would be the perfect hiding place. They all hoped this would blow over soon.

It was a big house, but it didn't take long for Lilith to realize the kids were gone. Just what had she and Caleb gotten themselves into by agreeing to work with Laurel.

She stormed up to Laurel angrily and let her know that the kids were gone.

Laurel looked at her dumbfounded. What did Lilith mean the kids were gone? Where did they go and why?

Lilith didn't understand why Laurel wasn't more upset that her kids were missing, just confused. She asked her point blank just what was going on.

Laurel's look of confusion turned to one of anger. Yvette. Yvette had to have told them. Ignoring Lilith, she screamed for her daughter to get in here this instance.

Instead of Yvette, Blaze appeared wondering why Lilith was there and why his mother was screaming.

Lilith had, had enough and went to go look for Caleb, but Blaze blocked her path. Once again, Laurel demanded Yvette show herself.

Once Blaze had learned that the other kids had taken off, he told his mother it had to be Yvette's doing, confirming her suspicions. Blaze had told Yvette about what had happened, but clearly Yvette didn't appreciate all that had been done for her.

From what Lilith was able to piece together, it sounded like anyone around Laurel and Blaze were in serious danger. Frantically she called out for Caleb. They needed to leave now.

When Yvette finally showed up, Blaze laughed in her face. How naive could she be to really think they wouldn't realize that she had told their siblings to leave. Hadn't he warned her what would happen? Were three dead bodies not enough?

Laurel was enraged that Yvette would be so ungrateful. She though Yvette had been happy to have powers. Happy to be allowed to live a comfortable and safe life with them. Now that she had turned against them, it was kill or be killed.

Yvette knew she had been defeated. She knew that if Laurel really wanted to, she could track down the others and hurt them or send Blaze after them. She really didn't have a choice. She felt her stomach churn sick at herself with what she was a bout to do.

Laurel smiled encouragingly as Yvette lifted her hands and glimmers began to manifest in the air. She saw the look of defeat and shame in Yvette's eyes as she aimed her magic towards Lilith. Now that she was sufficiently terrified and downtrodden, Yvette would do Laurel's bidding. After all, now she would be just as bad as Laurel herself.

Flames erupted onto Lilith's skin and began to spread through the room. Caleb finally arrived to find his sister on fire and his wife and step-children nowhere to be found.

Lilith let him know they had been played. There was a worse monster out there than Vlad after all, Laurel.

They tried to escape, but soon the flames began to engulf the entire mansion. Caleb lost sight of Lilith and didn't notice a cloaked figure creeping up behind him.

And just like that, any trace of the Vatores had been officially erased.

Laurel, Blaze, and Yvette stood in the courtyard as the house burned. Blaze blocked Yvette's path, so she would be unable to try run back in and try and save anyone. She would have to live with having blood on her hands now, just like the rest of them.

As the stood there, a pale, well dressed man approached them. Curious to see how had finally been able to rid the earth of that Vatore scum, he invited them all inside.
