Black Widow Spouse Two

After moving in with Diego, Laurel quickly realized that he didn't have much room for Nicolas. The poor thing had to sleep in Diego's walk-in closet, which he wasn't very happy about giving up.

Diego also wasn't prepared for what having a toddler in the house entailed. He prided himself on keeping a clean and upscale home. Though he was a creative soul, he didn't appreciate having paint splattered all over his carpet.

Still, he tried the best that he could to bond with Nicolas.

Things were going well until Laurel announced she was pregnant. She recognized the fake, plastered on smile from when she first learned she was pregnant with Nicolas. She hoped Diego would come to enjoy being a parent. If not, well she would figure out a way to handle that situation when the time came.

Laurel was surprised by how much she actually enjoyed being a mother. She doted on Nicolas every chance she got.

After some tenseness in the beginning, things were going well for Laurel and Diego. They seemed to be in the honeymoon phase of their marriage.

Looking back, she hated herself for being so naïve, but at the time she started to question whether soulmates really did exist. She and Diego were so like minded, and they seemed to be moving past their earlier troubles.

That feeling was fleeting, however. She soon learned that Diego was spending time with a certain roommate of Travis's.

In reality, Liberty was trying to find out all Diego knew about Travis's demise, but in Laurel's mind there was only one reason they could be meeting up. Diego was having an affair.

If Diego was having an affair, then Laurel decided she was going to explore some options of her own. She wasn't going to dispose of him, not just yet. She needed to find a suitable replacement.

She treated herself to a day in Sulani and stumbled across not one, but two handsome, and single, doctors.
They took quite an interest in her, and Laurel was flattered to receive all the attention.

Maybe she made up a story about how she was single and her boyfriend had abandoned her once she told him she was pregnant. If that caused them to dote on her more, well, so be it.

One of them seemed very, very interested in her.

Laurel headed back to the apartment with a satisfied smirk. Two could play that game.

Diego was trying to warm up to the idea of children, though Nicolas didn't seem to take to him very well, he hoped his own child would.

If Laurel really did kill Travis, like Liberty claimed, these children would need all the support they could get. He had a hard time believing that Laurel was capable of such things, though. Plus, she had never really mentioned Travis to him. Liberty was probably just jealous. Diego was used to having people be jealous of him.

He wasn't around to offer Laurel any support once she went into labor, however. She tried calling him multiple times at work, but with no success.

Though she considered calling one of the doctors she met to help her out, Laurel considered herself strong. It wasn't her last name for nothing! She delivered Emmett all by herself.

Once Emmett was born, Laurel decided to make a few changes to the house, while Diego was still at work. She changed up his closet into a small nursery for a baby, and she had the equipment moved out of his personal gym, which Laurel had never seen him use, to create a room for both Nicolas and Emmett once they were older.

To say Diego was outraged would be an understatement. He was furious that Laurel had gotten rid of his belongings without asking.

In his mind, there was plenty of room to keep both boys in the closet. That had been hard enough to give up.

Laurel had hoped this day wouldn't come, but she wasn't all that surprised that it did. Time to find someone else to take care of her. She started getting acquainted with Victor Feng, who ran in Diego's circle. She knew that Victor wanted children, while his wife did not.

His wife was none too happy to see the two of them together. It didn't take a genius to figure out what was going on.

It also wasn't much of a surprise that Laurel was able to convince Victor to leave his wife to be with her and her children. She told him that she feared Diego was thinking of leaving her because of his hatred of children, which Victor was all too sympathetic towards.

Laurel told him she was looking to divorce Diego, so that she and Victor could start a life together.

Diego became enraged when he saw that Laurel was pregnant again, though little did he know the father was Victor, not him. Diego had decided he had enough.

Laurel let out a yawn as Diego collapsed to the floor. This was easier than she had expected. All she had to do was get Diego mad enough that his heart went into overdrive. Really, she was looking forward to killing him in a more creative way.

She didn't even try to hide her glee and laughter as the Grim Reaper collected Diego's body.

Laurel didn't notice Nicolas who had wandered in the room, sobbing at the scary sight.

Laurel didn't let Diego's passing stop life from going on as normal, and she threw Nicolas a small birthday party.

It happened to be Emmett's birthday too. He grew up inquisitive, which Laurel feared may lead to unwanted questions later on.

Nicolas grew up to be a loner, afraid to get close to anyone because they all seemed to leave.

The boys had each other at least, and Nicolas vowed to take care of his younger brother and unborn sibling.

Laurel let Victor know the good news that the "divorce" had been finalized and Diego had left.

Victor figured Diego had left, too proud to admit he was in the wrong. He wouldn't be surprised if Diego never showed his face in town again.

The two had a small ceremony that only the building repairman and Laurel's children attended. Laurel wore a black dress, which she felt was more fitting to her personality than a white one.

She wasn't naïve anymore, and she knew this marriage wouldn't last. After getting Victor's money, she wondered how long she should stay with him, and what would be the factor that drove them apart before his demise.
